So What! Wednesday

It's that time of the week again!  So link up with Life After I "Dew" for SWW!

This week, I am saying SO WHAT! if:
  • I'm a bridesmaid in my bff's wedding this weekend and HAD to eat a big bowl of Red Velvet ice cream last night (my dress is a little big anyways!)
  • I'm slightly (okay, majorly) obsessed with my nail polish right now
  • I'm extremely impressed with myself for creating this little Thank You card for Mom to send for her bridal shower...

  • I'm kind of enjoying all the National Guard guys being in town, they're providing some pretty decent eye candy at work
  • I left a few things in my Jeep last night that I had moved out of my townhouse, because I was just too flippin' lazy to empty it all for the 60th day in a row. [slight exaggeration]
[my empty townhouse, bye byee]
  • I use [ ]'s wayy too much lately, I like it
  • Today is my last working day of the week.  Helloooo five day weekend :)
What are youu saying SO WHAT! to this week?!

I've been lusting the ombre nail look for quite some time.  Not just any ombre though, BLUE.
Currently, I have this serious obsession with all things navy.  Please, don't ask why.

Check out these stunnin' finga tips.

You know, I can take you straight to heaven if you let me

This sums up my weekend.

Homemade body scrubs, made by moi, for my gorgeous bff's bridal shower.

Our 2nd choice outfits for the bachelorette party, courtesy of F21.
Seriously, who would wear these IN PUBLIC?!

My F21 purchases ended up being the hot pink dress, that little leopard number seen in the fitting room, and a locket necklace.
Unfortunately, we arrived at the mall with less than an hour to shop, so I didn't make it to Sephora, booooo.

I hope you all had a fabulous weekend!

Road Trip

Tomorrow after work I will be venturing to West Des Moines to visit my bff, Jessica, and attend her bridal shower/bachelorette party!  I haven't even seen Jess since December and that was just passing through on my way to Chicago. :(

West Des Moines definitely has much better shopping and I've been planning out my purchases already!  :)
From Forever 21...

And some lovely items from Sephora, perhaps?
[in Warm Beige]

I'll let you know what I end up purchasing!
What's on your wish list right now?

So What Wednesday!

I'm linking up again with Shannon from "Life After I "Dew"" for SWW!

This week, I'm saying SO WHAT! if:

  • I'm super dehydrated today because I may or may not have drank nearly 1/2 a bottle of Belvedere last night (while packing up my townhouse)
  • I feel like I can lift heavier boxes while drinking (see! it was beneficial)
  • I'm having terrible luck in the male department lately (meaning I'm making not-so-good decisions).  Seriously guys, get it together.
  • I'm craving a new cell phone with a real plan... but I know that this Straight Talk junk will have to do for a few more months.
  • I stop at McDonald's for breakfast more than once a week to see the wonderful drive-thru man that helps to brighten my mornings. (Unfortunately, he was not working today, so I opted for a healthier breakfast &got the fruit & maple oatmeal.. it was surprisingly delish!)
  • I usually order one two sausage burritos with hot sauce for breakfast...

What are you saying SO WHAT! to this week?

Swimming Hole

A raging thunderstorm passed through last night and caused damage all over the area.  (Not like we don't have enough to worry about as it is.)  We didn't think it hit our neighborhood very badly, although the sirens were going off for quite a while due to tremendous wind speeds.

However, we were greeted with this in our backyard this morning...
Oh, that's just our new swimming hole.  We're going to fill it up with some water & enjoy.
BTW, it's over 18 feet deep and 4 feet wide.

Okay, I lied.  It got filled in right away (with two dump truck loads of sand).
But now, check out the location for our future swimming pool!

Book Review: Dead Until Dark

I am linking up for the first time today for Book Club Friday!  I absolutely love reading and when I saw this feature on quite a few blogs, I knew it would be perfect for me. :)

I clicked through the various books on my Nook and have decided on reviewing Dead Until Dark by Charlaine Harris.  This is the first Sookie Stackhouse novel and you should know that I have a very unhealthy obsession with True Blood.

[via]

Product Description [via]:
Sookie Stackhouse is just a small-time cocktail waitress in small-town Louisiana. Until the vampire of her dreams walks into her life-and one of her coworkers checks out....

Maybe having a vampire for a boyfriend isn't such a bright idea.
Review:
When I read this book, I had just finished up season 2 of the HBO series, so I pretty much new where it was headed.  The book kept me hooked though and I had to force myself to put it down to actually draw it out over a few day span.

Charlaine Harris develops the characters to be very likable and entertaining.  There were subtle differences between the novel and the show to keep it original.  There is a serial killer on the loose which will appeal to people that enjoy mysteries.  I fell in love with Sookie's character through the show and I was glad to see that she is the narrator for the novel.  The supernatural aspects of the series are a refreshing change from other vampire novels that I have read.

Overall, this was a very easy read that I enjoyed, but didn't love.  I would place it in the categories of romance, supernatural, and mystery.

3 out of 5 stars

Gotta get down on Friday! ... not today?

Sarah and I typically like to start our Friday workdays with a popular little diddy that seemed to hit viral overload.  Yes, the much hated "Friday" by Rebecca Black.  We actually had plans to post the vid on our blogs today to start the weekend.  (Oh, we may or may not secretly be in love with the song, don't hate.)

You HAVE to understand my disappointment when I opened [CNN] to get my morning news fix and I found [THIS]

Here, let me just quote the most important part for you...

"Entertainment Weekly reports that the clip, which had more than 167 million views, has been pulled."

Friday, please don't disappoint me anymore... I don't think I can handle it... I always look forward to you most out of the week.

Pull it!?

My lovely friend/co-worker, [Sarah has.. Sioux City Fashionality], and I are employed by this fabulously classy bank that happens to be located inside of a gas station.  Yes, you read that correctly.  Our location provides us with hours of interesting people watching, but also comes with the downside of, um, being in a gas station all day?

Shortly before I started working here (nearly 3 years ago), we were provided with our own lavatory.  Throughout this entire period of time, we have experienced difficulties with said bathroom, especially with the door situation.

Last week, with his super-human strength, our supervisor crushed the door knob.  This led to me creating a fancy sign to tape to the door which said "OCCUPIED, DO NOT OPEN" so that the pervs would not walk in on me.  (I absolutely refuse to use the public restroom in the building.)

Yesterday, we were amused by this fantastic invention in place of my sign....
Oh, you want a close-up?

The deadbolt on this bad boy has forced about 5 too many people to become held captive by the bathroom, so it's a no-go.  Now, you use that new HANDLE to pull the door shut & slide over the lock (which is another recent installment).

Lovely, isn't it?

P.S. My bank is not responsible of managing/cleaning the restrooms.
P.P.S.  The pull it! reference reminds me of Bop It! so, so badly.

So What! Wednesday

I decided that I need to be more active with my blogging and in the blogging community, so I will now be linking up with Shannon, from Life After I "Dew" in SWW  :)

This week, I'm saying SO WHAT if...
  • I bought a motorcycle two weeks ago and haven't rode it yet
  • I'm being a terrible procrastinator with packing and moving out of my townhouse.  It will have to get done eventually
  • I already failed at my new diet that I started yesterday...
  • I complain about the dogs being so horribly exhausting every night
  • I'm a terrible doggy mom and put the dogs in their kennels (much) too often
  • I pick at my chipped fingernail polish (except when it's fresh, like today!)
  • I have the tendency to add tons of things to the shopping cart throughout the day and rarely ever checkout
  • I only clean when people are coming over.  So come on over!
What are you saying SO WHAT to this week? :)

MOH Duties [Bachelorette Party]

Wedding season is here.  Typically, I am merely a wedding crasher.  This summer, I was asked to participate in not one, but TWO weddings.  In the same month.  [This is okay, because odds are, I won't be in very many weddings in my life.]
My bff, Jessica, is getting married July 2nd in DSM.  It will be a fancy-schmancy wedding and absolutely gorgeous, I am sure.  Jessie totally deserves her dream wedding and she's been working ridiculously hard to achieve it.  I just hate that she lives over 3 hours away and I'm not able to help as much as I would like to.
My wonderful mother is also getting married in July, which I have mentioned before. :)  I am so excited for her wedding, even though she's super nervous about the flood situation affecting the reception.  We're throwing a Pampered Chef bridal shower, which will be occurring on the same weekend as Jessie's bridal shower/bachelorette party.  I will be hungover and rushing from the state capital back to the Sioux to make it to Mom's party.
I also have yet to plan my mom's bachelorette party.  Since it's pretty much a non-traditional wedding, we will be meeting up with the fellas later in the evening.  I am thinking of a scavenger hunt that we can complete at the bars in the evening, but we would like to do something in the afternoon too (that won't break the bank).  I would thoroughly appreciate ANY ideas for things we can do!

Water Wars.

You might not have heard, but my city is getting bombarded with water along with a few other cities in the Midwest.  This is causing mass chaos and things will only get worse.  The Gavins Point Dam in Yankton, SD is releasing water like crazy and hundreds of people's homes are getting destroyed.
That is supposed to be an exit off the interstate.  Dangerous, I know, but I snapped that while driving.  Woops!

So this past week has been spent working (well, sitting at work as many of our customers have fled the area) and moving as much as possible out of my townhouse.  That picture of the helicopter is one block away from my townhouse.  The National Guard has pretty much taken over the area.

Biker babe.

This past weekend was absolutely gorgeous, the perfect weather to be out on a motorcycle all day!  I participated in my first poker run (as a passenger) which was part of the 2nd annual BON (bikerornot) party!  It was so much fun!!  I met so many fantastic people that I can't wait to see again!

I am riding on the 2nd bike from the right :)
BON group!  I'm in the peach tank top towards the right

My beautiful momma & me downtown Friday night

BREAKING NEWS: I actually bought my OWN bike last week!  I purchased a 2009 Kawasaki Ninja 250R.  It's cherry red and gorgeous.  I'm excited to really learn how to ride so I can participate in some poker runs myself!  Blogging world, allow me introduce you to Comet....
Get it?  Haylee's Comet! :)

Blondie blonde.

I get the occasional compliment on my blonde (spell check is preferring blond here, but I like blondE) locks.  Actually, I have been almost every color on the wheel.  I have been slacking in the hair department lately, especially since I was worried about how my feathers would feel about a change.  So I grabbed a chunk of saran wrap (to protect my feathers) and went to work.

Naturally, I forgot to take before/during pictures, so you get the afters. :)

My hair nearly blends in with the wall.  Ridiculous.

This is the magic stuff.  I get it from Sally's Beauty Supply and mix it with Ion's 20 Developer.  It also comes in little packets.  One packet gets mixed with 2 oz of developer.  If you buy the tub, use 4 scoops to 2 oz of developer.  I use a brush and my artistic skills.  I left the color on my hair for about 30 minutes this time, and it turned out whiiite.  I only color my roots now too, attempting to prevent maximum damage.

*I am in no way a professional at doing this.  Don't attempt to do this yourself if you're not prepared to deal with the consequences.  Personally, I know that hair grows back and can be changed, so I'm not worried about messing it up.

** I was also way too lazy to take pics with my camera & upload, so my webcam did the work today. :)
