Military Life.

Since I last posted, life has taken us on two new adventures!
In June of 2014, we re-located to Augusta, GA for Andrew's Captain's Career Course. I quickly obtained employment at a local bank and worked and traveled around the local area for the following seven months.
Demo Derby at the Columbia County Fair.

Formal Event for the Army

World of Coca-Cola, Atlanta, GA

Last month, we packed up all of our belongings again and headed back to the Midwest.
We're now located in Manhattan, KS, which is significantly colder than where we've been for the past 2 years! I found a job right away at a local bank in the Mortgage department. It's brand new territory for me, so a lot to learn, but I'm liking it. I feel like there will be more opportunities for advancement in the real estate industry.

I'm still going to school full-time as well, taking classes online for my degree in Accounting. We're only 3 hours away from my mom now, and five hours from the rest of our family. It's nice being able to go home on the weekends on occasion.

Until next time!

Being alone.

The man that I love is in the military.
I had always heard that being with someone in the military would be hard, but I never really understood.
I was single for so long before we got together and I was confident that I could handle being by myself for long periods of time.

Boy, has that changed.

I have found that the difference is - when I was single before, I lived by my family and friends.
If I felt lonely or bored, I could just call someone and they were five minutes away.
Now, I'm completely by myself in a strange city.

The girls at work make it a little easier for me. I've begun hanging out with them a bit outside of work.
It's the nights that are most difficult.

I double-, no, triple-check all three locks on every one of the doors that leads outside.
Then, I go and check them again.

I hate when my dog barks/growls when he hears a noise.
I'm glad that he alerts me, but damn it, I just had a little heart attack.

Shadows become my worst nightmare.
The shower curtains are all left open - just in case.
I check every room and closet every time I get home.

Is anyone else as paranoid as me?
Does this get any easier?

Influenster: Violet VoxBox

Hello!

I received the Violet VoxBox last month, courtesy of Influenster for testing/reviewing purposes.

I absolutely love the Not Your Mother's Clean Freak dry shampoo. The smell is wonderful and it provides amazing volume to my fine, flat hair.

The Montagne Jeunesse Red Earth Clay Spa Masque was very interesting. It looked like I had bologna on my face! However, my face did feel a little softer afterwards.

I haven't really used the Sally Hansen nail color yet and did not eat the SoyJoy... I'm just not a fan of them.
The Goody headband would be really nice if it were a bit thinner.

Go sign up at Influenster now so you can receive your own VoxBox to test some new products!
You no longer need an invitation to join.
What are you waiting for!?

Texas weather.

The weather is insane here.
Monday, it was nearly 80 degrees so we took Bear for a hike at our favorite park by the lake.
He loves to go swimming now.

Today, it's raining snowing. SNOWING.
Great night to make some Trader Joe guilt-free brownies & snuggle with puppy.

Saturday, it's supposed to be 70 degrees again.
I can't wait.

2014.

Hello world,

It's been quite a long while.

A whole lot has changed in my life. Like, pretty much, everything.

I packed up my puppy and moved to Texas in May 2012 to be with an incredible man that I met on that Shiprocked cruise that I might have mentioned.

During our Segway adventure in Nassau, Bahamas!

New Year's 2013. :)

Military ball.

Vegas for my birthday.

Army/Navy football game in Dallas.

Celebrating one year together in Austin. :)

I've switched jobs a couple of times and I'm finally happy with where I'm at.

I plan on posting more now that I have some free time, as I'm not in school at the moment.
(I obtained my second Associate's degree in December, woot.)

Take care everyone,
xox.

Product Review: Venus Embrace Razor.

I received a complimentary Venus Embrace razor from Influenster in my Cosmo VoxBox to review.

I have been using Venus razors for years, so I was pretty excited to receive this. The Embrace razor is smooth and gets a pretty close shave.
I love that the Venus razor handle can use any of the razor blade refills.

I would highly recommend the Venus Embrace razor.
While you're at it, check out Influenster! :)

Book Club Friday! - Divergent by Veronica Roth

This week (although it's been quite a while!) I'm reviewing Divergent by Veronica Roth.

Synopsis from GoodReads:

In Beatrice Prior's dystopian Chicago world, society is divided into five factions, each dedicated to the cultivation of a particular virtue--Candor (the honest), Abnegation (the selfless), Dauntless (the brave), Amity (the peaceful), and Erudite (the intelligent). On an appointed day of every year, all sixteen-year-olds must select the faction to which they will devote the rest of their lives. For Beatrice, the decision is between staying with her family and being who she really is--she can't have both. So she makes a choice that surprises everyone, including herself.

During the highly competitive initiation that follows, Beatrice renames herself Tris and struggles alongside her fellow initiates to live out the choice they have made. Together they must undergo extreme physical tests of endurance and intense psychological simulations, some with devastating consequences. As initiation transforms them all, Tris must determine who her friends really are--and where, exactly, a romance with a sometimes fascinating, sometimes exasperating boy fits into the life she's chosen. But Tris also has a secret, one she's kept hidden from everyone because she's been warned it can mean death. And as she discovers unrest and growing conflict that threaten to unravel her seemingly perfect society, she also learns that her secret might help her save those she loves . . . or it might destroy her.

 My Review:

This book is INTENSE. I absolutely loved it and finished in less than 3 days. It is full of action and I became really attached to the characters. Roth is a great writer and I cannot wait to start Insurgent.

Five out of five stars :)
