Owl that & more!?

ModCloth was so courteous as to tempt me with a ridiculous email today with, oh, about 50 items that are owl related.  Seriously, don't they know I just dropped a couple grand on a motorcycle yesterday!?  Luckily, the things that I would be most likely to splurge and impulsively run my credit card through are out of stock.  I made sure to set up a reminder when they restock though, just in case my lucky numbers come up on the Powerball.

Product Review - Clear Care

I was far from blessed in the eye sight department.  I am nearly blind without glasses/contacts.  I primarily wear contacts because I am more comfortable that way.  I never had glasses that I liked until a year ago, and they became my savior about six months ago when my eyes became basically allergic to my contacts.  I finally went to the eye doctor a couple weeks ago for my yearly exam and my doctor introduced me to Clear Care.  This system has done wonders for me.  I actually might have been allergic to the Opti-Free solution that I had been using for years and years.

Do you see that case!?  It's INSANE.  Definitely not your typical contact case.  So you trap your lenses, one on each side & fill the container to the line with the solution.  CRITICALLY IMPORTANT: DO NOT ALLOW THAT SOLUTION IN YOUR EYE BALL.  The solution has Hydrogen Peroxide in it, and you can literally see it bubbling & cleaning your lenses.  It's amazingly fantastic, but your lenses must be in the specially constructed case for 6 hours.

Since I started using Clear Care, I have worn my contacts almost every single day without irritation.  I swear by this product now and had to share my experience.  Plus, since my followers are all currently males, they might be able to appreciate this too. :)

You can purchase Clear Care online via Drugstore.com or at your local drugstore (where it's probably cheaper!)

Behind the name...

A while ago, my co-worker, Sarah, and I were browsing on Urban Dictionary.  The site provided a suggestion at the top to search for your city.  Needless to say, the definition for Sioux City is not a pleasant one.
According to Urbandictionary.com, Sioux City is:
"A small city in the northwest corner of Iowa primarily populated with Mexicans and other forms of life that won't amount to shit.
I was driving down interstate 29 and all of a sudden there was this rich aroma that smelled like shit... there it was... SIOUX CITY. (Sioux City actually always smells like shit believe it or not)"
Well, I copied down the second definition because it's more entertaining.

And below Sioux City, comes Sioux City Pretty:
"A person, a woman normally, that is very plain looking, but is deemed prettier than what she is due to the other people around her.
He said his wife was smoking hot, but turns out she was only Sioux City Pretty.

With all the obese around, she came out looking really Sioux City Pretty."

Bahhaha, it's hilarious.  We had quite a good laugh about it.  So, when it came time to think of a blog name, what could be better?  It's sarcastic, yet cute, and perfectly suitable for me.

OOTD - I believe in people like you.

I actually dressed up for work yesterday, and I wanted to post then but Blogger was not cooperating.  So, here's what I wore yesterday!

Shirt: Target, circa 2009ish, lucky me, neons are back!
Skirt: Pencil skirt from either Younkers or Kohl's
Cardigan: Younkers
Shoes: Madden Girl

I actually had to wear the cardigan all day at work, since the shirt scoops low in the back & shows my tattoo. :(  Luckily, I always freeze at work anyways!

I bought Bear a new toy the other day when mom and I went to PetSmart so she could look at dogs to adopt.  Here he is enjoying it while I started this post!

A little life update:
I don't know if I mentioned before, but my mom is getting married in July (the 23rd, to be exact).  :)  Mom and Mark (her fiance) recently purchased a house that I will also be moving into.  This weekend is the last weekend they have at their rental, so moving everything and planning the wedding has been hectic.  Tonight, I joined Mom to meet with the "cake lady" and decide on the cake & sample the goods, of course.  Everything went perfectly and we are so excited for the cake.  I will be making a contribution of one part of the cake topper, which will be something like this....

I am going to attempt to make some adorable little people, hopefully resembling Mom & Mark. :)  I will let you know how they turn out!

Heat Wave!

WOW!  It got up to 94 degrees (I believe) in Sioux City today.  We skipped Spring and went straight for Summer.  In honor of this, we took the dogs for a boat ride on the lake and Bear (I'm assuming) experienced swimming for the first time.  I only say this because he basically tried to keep leaping out of the water rather than swim when he first jumped in, and oh, it was hilarious.

Robert would throw a stick in the water for Bear & Puffin to retrieve.  Basically, it was a hectic rat race to the stick and very entertaining.
Bear won that round!
Me & Mom on the boat :)
Bear swimming much more efficiently

I would say it ended up being the perfect first hot day of the season. :)

OOTD - Mother's Day Brunch

I had brunch today with my mom, my grandma, and my brother at the Black Bear Diner in Sioux City.  I decided to dress up (I wear dresses quite frequently) and figured this would be a good start for an OOTD post! :)  Just to let you all know, I am on a pretty tight budget, so I usually try to find good deals on my clothes and accessories.
*I do not have a photographer to take photos for me, so I'll make due for a while :)

Dress, Owl Necklace, & Belt: Forever21  Cardigan & Shoes: TJMaxx
Tights: Gap  Elephant Necklace: JCPenney

These shoes are my new favorite, they're actually a nude shade, Guess brand found at TJMaxx for $39.99 :)

The food at Black Bear was fantastic.  I had the Sirloin Steak Omelette with diced red potatoes & pancakes.  Oh boy, was it scrumptious.  The portions were extremely generous, as my meal could have easily fed two people.  I'm glad I have a big dog to bring leftovers home to. :)

Happy Mother's Day!

Happy Mother's Day to all of the mother's out there! :)

I would like to thank my mom for everything that she has done for me throughout my life.  She has always supported me and believed in me.  She provides for me when I cannot provide for myself.  I honestly do not know what I would do without her.

This picture was taken in 2010 for Mom's birthday.  We took a trip to Kansas City to do some shopping and gambling.  We also got our mother-daughter tattoos. :)

Apparently, this is the only picture we have taken of it.  Mom and I both have this tattoo on our backs between our shoulder blades.  :)

Moral of the story: spoil your moms today & let them know how much you appreciate them. :)

------------update-------------
This is my most popular post, because of our mother-daughter tattoos... so I wanted to update with a photo from my mom's wedding with our tats :)

Style Review - Feather Hair Extensions

Recently, I spotted the trend of feather hair extensions around the web.  I knew that I HAD to get them.  Sioux City is not exactly current with trends, so I knew finding a salon that had them would be difficult.  I made numerous phone calls to salons that had no idea what I was talking about.  That's when Fresh Hair Salon came to the rescue!  I made an appointment for a consultation, got very excited, then found out that the feathers were back-ordered. :(

Wednesday, the salon called and the feathers were in!  They arrived much sooner than I had expected as well.

Please, ignore the cheesy-ness of my expression. :)

I got three feathers, one turquoise, one that's a beige-cream, and one white.  I work at a bank full-time, so I tried to keep it somewhat appropriate.  I absolutely LOVE how they turned out.  They should last up to three months, with proper care. :)  They are put in with hair extension crimps and I can wash them, brush them, even curl/straighten them.

If you're in the Siouxland area and want to try them out for yourself, they're available at [Fresh Hair Salon &Spa] for about $15 per feather. :)

Hello World.

Hi!

First of all, I would like to thank you for entering my blog, and my life.  I'm Haylee.  I'm 22 years old, and have and will be experiencing many changes in my life.  I haven't done things in my life as I had planned... but doesn't that happen to everyone?

I graduated high school top-of-the-class five years ago.  FIVE YEARS.  It's insane.  I attended a very prestigious university for my freshman year of college, with the intentions of majoring in Biology/Pre-Med.  Boy, was that an eye-opener.  That school/major did not work out for me, but I met my best friend while attending school there.  Next, I moved back to Sioux City, which is essentially home-base.  I attended a community college for Surgical Technology until I decided that I just could not handle the medical field.  So here I am, three years later with an Associate's Degree in Business.

I have lived on my own/with a significant other since high school.  In two weeks, I'm moving into my mom's new house.  I'm sacrificing my freedom for much lower expenses and a huge fenced-in backyard for my nearly 3 year old chocolate lab, Bear.  I adopted Bear in February from a rescue league and he is terrific.  Apartment life is just not fair for a dog of his size.

I love reading blogs and I love to write.  I don't know why this hasn't started before?  I enjoy fashion and beauty.  I have just recently been expanding my wardrobe to develop my own style.  I absolutely love the feeling that it brings.  The city that I live in is pretty small, and not very fashionable.  I have gained enough confidence in recent months that has allowed me not to care what other people think.  I feel so much better about myself.

So, this blog will be about me and my life, along with some beauty/fashion tips & reviews, perhaps an OOTD post or two. :)

Enjoy!
